How To Choose An AirbedAir beds are fun! Each sleeper can adjust the firmness of their side of the bed independently of the other, up and down, up and down, as many times as he or she wants. What can be more fun than that! But in addition to their obvious and vast capacity for providing hours of entertainment, air beds are a great choice for sleepers (or wannabe sleepers) looking for a good night's sleep. The ability to adjust your sleep surface to your EXACT needs is fantastic benefit, and something you can't do with any other sleep surface. The fact that both you and your partner can adjust the firmness level of your own sleep surface independently makes airbeds even more amazing. But, since you are reading this, you probably know all this, and you are saying to yourself "Yeah, yeah... I know I want an air bed, I just don't know which one!". If you are an internet shopper, and I know you are because you're reading this, you are probably at the point of information overload, and you just want to STOP THE MADNESS and get off the information super highway. If that's the case, keep reading for a simple, straight forward, yet informative, comparison of the air beds we offer.
Each of our air beds is unique. As you shop, you'll often find airbeds organized in a "good, better, best" kind of structure. We do not do that. Each of our air beds offers benefits different from the others, and any of them would be a quality addition to your sleeping life. Don't buy based on price or any other criteria except whether the air bed you are thinking about will best meet your needs. All of the air beds we offer are of the highest quality, really. No kidding. The pumps, air hoses, connections, chambers, materials, and designs are the best in the industry. The difference between these air beds and the reason we offer these models is that each fills a niche, a need, that may be the one you are looking to fill.
We offer five models, three lower profile models that are about 10 inches thick, and two higher profile models, one of which is 14 inches thick and the other is 15 inches thick. Deciding how thick you want your mattress to be is a good place to start in your decision making process. Is thicker better? Not necessarily. Remember, the criteria you are using is "what will best meet your needs". A thicker mattress will have more stuff in it, more ingredients, more materials, and often, more options (bells and whistles). Our two high profile mattresses definitely fit the bill when talking about premium materials, options, and bells and whistles, but that doesn't mean you need all that to have a good quality mattress. If your goal is to own a simple, high quality mattress, a good choice would be the Sug-A-Bug. This mattress has everything you need to get a good night's sleep including 6 inch, multi-directional vulcanized rubber air chambers, and a digital read-out for exact air adjustments. All the quality of our other beds is in this bed - the hoses, connection, chambers, and foam rails are the same high quality components that you will find on the more expensive beds. We dare you to find comparable quality from any other air mattress on the market at this price that you will find in the Snug-A-Bug. This is not a "Value" bed. This bed is a good value.
The DermaSoothe LX features a skin friendly Aloe Vera tack and jump cover stitched around layers of tri-zoned latex, impression reducing Quiltflex™, pressure regulating SuperSoft foam, and ultra soft fiber. The removeable, refreshable smart top is an elegant Euro-Top design.
The air chambers are made from genuine European vulcanized rubber. They are cloth backed and double thick for durability and are a full 6 inches deep. The air chambers use a cross vertical and horizontal baffle construction that creates square pockets of air that provide uniform support and comfort from head to toe. The 24 gauge rubber uses a vulcanization process that virtually eliminates all seams. The material actually flows together and becomes a one-piece construction. The natural cotton backing material is adhered chemically to the latex. This creates a soft, smooth texture and at the same time eliminates air leakage through the pores of the rubber. The chamber borders are double seamed with two 1.25 inch seams, one reinforcing the other. Double sealing creates a more reliable support system for years of proven longevity and trouble free use. Inside the air chambers you will find our incredibly strong I-Beam construction. Other companies talk about I-beam construction, but they don't use the same system we do, usually using a single sided sealing system (try saying that 10 times fast). Our I-Beams are made up of two layers of canvas and two layers of rubber bonded together to join the top and the bottom of the air chamber. Where the I-Beam meets the top and bottom of the chamber, the canvas/rubber layers flair out each way, offering twice the holding power of a single sided system for extra strength and years of durable use. The sophisticated baffling system of our chambers creates little square pillows of air that keep the spine aligned for maximum comfort and support without the hammocking that can occur with some other air chambers you may find out there. Our square pillow system evenly supports the entire body, no matter whether you sleep on the edge of the bed or with a soft or firm inflation level. Because this design eliminates the need for a foam wedge between dual air chambers, sleepers can sleep in the middle of the mattress without feeling anything but the ultra comfortable mattress they purchased, and without the sensation of rolling toward the middle of the bed, regardless of the selected inflation level. Before shipping, each air chamber is thoroughly tested to ensure years of trouble free use.
The Zip-Top VX and the Bamboozle are high profile beds, meaning they are very tall! The Zip-Top comes in around 14 inches thick, and the Bamboozle comes in around 15 inches. That's a lot of mattress! Each of these beds offers interesting and exciting features. The Zip-Top VX includes all kinds of premium materials wrapped up in a 4 inch European Box Pillow Top. Take a look at the detail page for the Zip-Top VX to read more about the materials used. The really interesting feature (and the reason for it's name) is the hidden zipper in the pillowtop that allows the user to change the specialty foam used in the pillow top at any time! The "V" in "VX" stands for Visco, and the "X" in "VX" stands for Latex (I know, it should be "L", but it's not). The reason for the nomencalture is that the this mattress includes a comfort layer of latex bonded to visco elastic memory foam. Once side is latex, and one side memory foam. YOu can change the feel of your mattress at any time by simply unzipping the top compartment of the mattress and flipping the comfort layer over. Visco (also known as memory foam) is that space age foam you probably have seen advertised on T.V. Latex is a natural rubber product that is extremely comfortable and lasts forever. Both are very popular, but very different. You can choose what you want. More than that, as time goes by, you can unzip your Zip-Top and insert whatever specialty foam you want into the pillowtop. How is that for options!
The Bamboozle is an animal all it's own. Like the Zip-Top VX, it has a 4 inch European Box Pillow Top, but in this case it is two-sided and flippable! One side of the Box Top is quilted with Cool Plus, a temperature regulating material, under which is a layer of space age visco elastic memory foam. Enjoy the conforming benefits of visco with the temperature regulating effects of Cool Plus. The other side is Bamboo knit fabric (yes, that Bamboo) quilted over a layer of latex. Bamboo is a natural, eco-friendly, renewable resource that is naturally anti-microbial. Bamboo is on it's way to becoming the textile product of the 21st century. Visit the detail page for the Bamboozle to read more about the amazing properties of Bamboo. So what's the difference between the Zip-Top and the Bamboozle? Well, one difference is the ticking material used for each. The Bamboozle uses two specialty fabrics, Cool Plus and Bamboo, while the Zip-Top VX uses the highest quality Belgian Damask ticking available. The Bamboozle's top is flippable, while the Zip-Top uses a hidden zippered compartment that allows the user to change specialty foams at any time. The difference in how these beds are going to feel very much depends on how you set them up, because they both offer options. The Bamboozle offers two distinct options by simply flipping the pillow top. The Zip-Top offers multiple options, even past the initial set-up, because you can change the pillowtop at any time.
So which one should you choose? Its all up to you! However, here are some quick and dirty guidelines that might help you:
1) You want a quality bed that includes a single digital control and fairly soft feel with good support, but you don't want to spend a lot of money - go Snug-A-Bug.
2) You want a traditional pillowtop design with latex and the skin saving benefits of Aloe Vera - go DermaSoothe-LX
3) You want a traditional pillowtop design with memory foam and like the look and feel of a mink like sleep surface - go Pet-Me
4) You want a premium mattress with a luxurious style Damask ticking and the flexibility to customize the feel of the mattress at any time - go Zip-Top VX
5) You want to take advantage of the new and exciting ticking materials, including naturally anti-microbial, eco freindly Bamboo, and you want to be able to change the feel of the mattress from latex, to memory foam, and back again in seconds, go with the Bamboozle.
Hope this helps. For even more help, please contact us, and we will be glad to guide you further.
